The MS 51047 is a set screw that has the following features:

  • Material: Corrosion-Resisting steel, 300 Series, in accordance with procurement specification.
  • Surface Treatment: Passivate overall.
  • Protective Coating: Passivate in according with qq-p-35.
  • Threads: The threads shall be in accordance with MIL_S_7742.
  • Thread Series Designator: Unf.
  • Thread Class: 3a
  • Thread Direction: Right-hand.
  • Thread Length: 0.500 inches minimum.
  • Thread Diameter: 0.250 inches.
  • Fastener Length: 0.500 inches nominal.
  • Width Across Flats: 0.125 inches minimum and 0.127 inches maximum.
  • Magnetic Permeability: These setscrews have a magnetic permeability of 2.0 mx (air = 1.0) for a field strength of H = 200 aersteds, when using a magnetic indicator per MIL-I_17214.
  • Dimensions: All dimensions are in inches, unless otherwise specified.
  • For design feature purposes, this standard takes precedence over procurement documents referenced herein.
  • Interchangeability: Screws covered by the dash numbers given in MS51048 are cancelled after 6 March 1964 and superseded by the screws covered on MS51047 having same dash number. Cancelled screw may be used until existing stocks are depleted. Use only MS51047 screws for new design.
